We’re happy to announce that Showpad now has the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Certification Status for our enterprise-grade sales enablement solution. Earning the certification means the British Standards Institute recognized us for having a top-notch information security management system (ISMS).
What is the ISO 27001 standard?
The ISO 27001 standard is the most accepted, independent information security standard. It was designed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as an endorsement to encourage companies to manage information security risks and, more important, protect customer data. The standard defines best practices to build an ISMS, and includes a set of policies around information security management and IT related risks.
Why is this international security standard so important?
Well-known entertainers, politicians, governments, enterprises – nowadays, you don’t have to think long to come up with personalities or companies that were hacked and had confidential information stolen. While the personal events die down quickly, hacking attempts aimed at businesses of all sizes and across industries can cause irreparable damage. Especially in the age of software as a service – where critical information is often moved outside of a business’s own systems – security standards help create commitments to protect customer data.
